Faridabad/Alive News: DAV Sports State (Zonal) Level Handball Tournament 2024 was hosted by DAV Public School, Sector 49, Faridabad on 25 September 2024 and 26 September 2024 in the school ground under the aegis of DAV CMC, New Delhi. Boys and girls teams in the U-14, U-17, and U-19 categories representing DAV schools from Kurukshetra, Gurugram, Narnaul, Kaithal, Bhondsi, Ambala and Faridabad district participated enthusiastically.
In the Handball tournament, U-14 boys and girls categories, DAV Public School, Sector 49, Faridabad secured the second and the first position respectively. Moreover, six girls and four boys have been selected for national level. In the girls and boys U-17 category categories, the girls team bagged the first position and the boys team secured second position. Besides, six girls and two boys have been selected for national level.
In the U-19 category, the girls team bagged the second position and four girls have been selected for national level.One boy from U-19 category has also been selected for nationals.
The boys U-19 Volleyball team secured the second position, and four boys have been selected for national level. In the girls boxing 56 kg category, Dhanvi Lohia of the school bagged the third position and won a bronze medal.
The Table Tennis tournament was held at Kaithal, and in the U-14 and U-19 boys categories, the first position was bagged by the school team. Besides, two and three boys respectively have been selected for the national level. In the Air Pistol 10 m event held at DAV Public School,Sec 14, Prerita bagged the third position in U-17 girls category of Pistol game.
The Badminton tournament was also held at Kaithal and in the girls U-14 category, the first position was bagged by the school team. Furthermore, one boy and three girls have been selected for national level.
In the girls and boys U-17 and U-19 categories, the school team emerged as the dominant force and secured the first position in both the categories. Four boys and three girls from U-17 category have been selected for national level, and three boys and two girls from the U-19 category.
The Principal, Sh Rajan Gautam expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the teachers as well as all the participants for their dedication and sportsmanship. He commended their efforts in making the tournament a memorable event, and for bringing laurels to the school.
