Basant Panchami referred to as Saraswati Puja is commonly associated with Maa Saraswati, the goddess of learning, wisdom and knowledge.
To seek the blessings of Maa Saraswati and to attain enlightenment through knowledge, children at DAV NH-3, NIT celebrated Basant Panchami on 12th February 2016.
A beautiful corner decorated in yellow was set up for the students, where the students offered yellow flowers and prayers to Goddess Saraswati to seek her blessings. Students sang in praise of the Goddess. They were told about the significance of this day and the Veena hold by the goddess, signifying purity of heart, knowledge and music respectively. They invoked her blessings to remove the ignorance and enlighten their path with wisdom.
Basant Panchami also marks the onset of the spring season. The vibrance of spring came to life with the theme corner created by the teachers and yellow turned out to be the colour of the day.
It was a delighted to watch the little toddlers on stage presented beautiful dance on “MAA SARASWATI”. The aroma of marigold with the mix of sandalwood created a scared atmosphere.
Unlike the common school uniforms, all students including teachers were dressed in yellow color. Yellow signifies cheerfulness, wisdom, auspiciousness and intellectuality, is a symbol of spring. In the meantime, Vachi of class-I & Pavni of class II also explained the value and importance of this day. The students were also asked to bring yellow food in their tiffins.
At the end, the school Principal, MRS JYOTI DAHIYA appreciated the students & showered her blessings.
