Faridabad/ Alive News: In Christian, All Souls Day is set aside for honouring the dead, primarily celebrated in the Catholic Church here on Thursday. Consistent with the teaching and traditions Catholics believe that through the prayers of the faithful on earth, the dead are cleansed of their sins, so that they may enter into heaven. On this day, the faithful visit the cemetery and remember and dedicate prayers for the souls of the departed. Tidying and decorating by offering flowers and candles on the grave is quite common.
Talking to mediapersons parish priest Fr. Moben said Christian honours all souls of Christians who have died. Remembering their deceased relatives on this day. Believers remember and pray for the souls of people who are in Purgatory – the place in which those who have died atone for their sins before being granted the vision of God in Heaven.
The thought behind this is that when a soul leaves the body, it is not entirely cleansed from minor sins. But, through the power of prayer, the faithful on earth can help these souls gain the souls the heavenly vision they seek.
