Bengaluru/Alive News: A cab driver in Bengaluru, Karnataka, has been arrested for allegedly killing seven members of his wife’s family, including his wife and a seven-year-old child. Police said the murders were linked to a domestic dispute over his wife’s visits to her parental home.
The accused, identified as Shekhar, had been married to Sunita for around 20 years. According to police, the couple frequently argued over her visits to her parents. Her mother and brother also supported her, which allegedly angered Shekhar.
Police said Shekhar first killed his wife at their home using a grinding stone. He wrapped her body in cloth and allegedly dumped it near Nandi Hills. He then switched off her mobile phone and told neighbours that she had gone out.
The following day, he allegedly called his two brothers-in-law, Shivkumar and Shankar, to the house on the pretext of a party and killed them. Their wives, Divya and Nalini, his mother-in-law, Roopwati, and Shivkumar’s seven-year-old son, Puneet, were also killed.
Missing Person Complaint Exposes Murders
The case came to light after Nalini’s mother filed a missing person complaint at Srirampura police station on Thursday. During the investigation, police uncovered the killings and arrested Shekhar.
According to investigators, the accused allegedly used chemicals to clean bloodstains from the house and a car to transport and dump the bodies at different locations.
Police have seized the grinding stone and the car suspected to have been used in the crime.
Police Search for Remaining Bodies
Police have recovered the body of the seven-year-old child near Nandi Hills. Efforts are under way to locate the remaining bodies.
Investigators are also examining whether anyone else was involved in the crime. Police are further looking into how the killings went unnoticed in the residential area.
The investigation is continuing.
