Apple Caps iPhone Duo Purchases at Two Units per Customer

Business/Alive News: Apple has reportedly introduced a purchase limit of two units per customer for its new iPhone Duo across its official online stores, including India. The restriction aims to prevent bulk buying and resale ahead of the device’s arrival in physical retail stores on October 23.

According to Tata Group’s electronics retail chain Croma, customers cannot order more than two units in a single purchase. If buyers attempt to add additional devices to their online cart, a warning message asks them to reduce the quantity before proceeding to checkout. The limit applies regardless of the colour or storage variant selected.

The restriction is reportedly active across Apple’s online stores in India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan and Spain. Apple has also placed purchase limits on certain older iPhone models.

Why has Apple introduced the limit?

The move is intended to curb bulk buying and scalping, in which resellers purchase high-demand products and sell them at inflated prices. Reports of iPhone Duo listings at increased prices on secondary marketplaces have raised concerns about availability and affordability during the initial launch period.

By restricting purchases, Apple aims to make more devices available to individual customers rather than bulk buyers.

What does this mean for buyers?

Customers planning to purchase devices for family members or business use may need to place separate orders, subject to Apple’s applicable purchasing rules. The two-unit cap is expected to remain in effect during the initial online sales period as the company manages inventory across online and offline channels.

Buyers should check Apple’s official website for the latest ordering restrictions and availability.
