Faridabad/ Alive News: Hemorrhoids or piles are a very common condition. It leads to bleeding, low hemoglobin and related problems. Hemoglobin may fall to as low as 2 or 3 grams. The treatment of piles can be done both with medicines and surgery. While the treatment done with medicines doesn’t provide the complete cure, the surgery is painful.
But, with this new technique called “RAFAELO”, piles are treated without any wound or pain. It consists of burning the piles with energy generated by the radiofrequency. There is no need to admit the patient or give full anaesthesia. Procedure is done under local anaesthesia. After the procedure patient complains of no pain and can be sent home on same day and can join work the next day. It was done today at ESIC medical college. It is the first time that this procedure was done in Faridabad and whole of NCR region.
Under the leadership of Dr MP Arora, Department of surgery operated on in total 5 patients. Procedure was done by Dr Mandeep Kaur and team. The patients reported no pain post procedure and shall be discharged today after an observation of 2 hours.
Dr Mandeep Kaur is an assistant professor in the department of surgery. She while talking to media told that she was really disappointed with the pain that the piles patients used to have after open surgery. She came across this procedure and went through the literature, which said that the long term results of the procedures were extremely good. She decided to bring it to ESIC Medical College Faridabad for the benefits of all the patients. Today they successfully introduced this procedure and all the patients are doing well.
The correspondent was talking to the patients after the surgery, they were extremely happy with the procedure and said they had no believed that all this will happen in a short time. After all, it was a good experience and hope that we will be cured soon.
Actually, in traditional surgery, there is a cut at three places and it leads to lot of pain. Patient needs to be admitted in the hospital for 2/3 days and there is a need to take pain killer medicines. Patient is not fit to join work for at least two weeks or so. It leads to financial loss to family and company. Sometimes the pain is persistent for longer duration making the day to day life uncomfortable.
