Faridabad/Alive News: The Department of Communication and Media Technology of JC Bose University of Science and Technology organized an expert lecture on the topic Media Literacy and Fact Checking for the students of the department. The key speakers of the session were Shri Rahul Namboori, co-founder and Editor-in-chief of Fact Crescendo and Shri Mayur Deokar, fact checker and media literacy trainer.

Dr Pawan Singh, Chairperson of the Department of Communication and Media Technology, welcomed the esteemed guests by presenting them a memento. Dr.Pawan Singh said it is very important for students to be aware and alert along with education. Mayur Deokar, Experienced journalist and media fact checker, made the students aware of the nuances of Digital Scams. Throwing light on the ways to scam an individual , he introduced the students to the steps involved in the fraudulent schemes of swindlers. He also told the students about the possible techniques through which one can avoid getting trapped in such activities.

While telling the students about the importance of privacy, Rahul shared his personal narratives on various frauds and the use of deception to gain trust in order to carry out the sequence of scams. The speakers taught the students about the relevance of passkeys and strong passwords to keep their data safe and secure. Apart from this, they also taught the scholars to fact check data and secure information through practical applications. The speakers urged the students to stay media literate in their lives and also do thorough research before trusting anything on the internet.

On this occasion, department chairperson Dr. Pawan Singh , Assistant Professor Dr.Sonia Hooda, Assistant Professor Dr. Rahul Arya were present. Students of second year of BA Journalism and Mass Communication and first year of MA Journalism and Mass Communication participated enthusiastically in this expert lecture.
